Guiding Question: In a culture where we are bombarded with ideas and images of “what we should be”, how does one form an identity that remains true and authentic for her/himself?

Warm-Up:
Writing Prompt:
After reading Fish Cheeks and My Mother Tells the Story of Her Alabama Childhood, write a well-constructed paragraph in which you analyze the interactions between the speakers and the events to determine how each speaker develops an identity that is true to themselves. Support your response with evidence from the texts.
W.7.2 Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas, concepts, and information through the selection, organization, and analysis of relevant content.
