Unit 2: Determining and Developing Central Ideas
Guiding Question: In a culture where we are bombarded with ideas and images of “what we should be”, how does one form an identity that remains true and authentic for her/himself?

Warm-Up:
Read a letter from the teacher and use a checklist to revise your writing from Wednesday.
W.7.2 Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas, concepts, and information through the selection, organization, and analysis of relevant content.
Mini-Lesson:
How do dialogue and events impact a story? How do they help a dynamic character change?

Analyze how particular elements of a story or drama interact (e.g., how setting shapes the characters or plot).
Class Work:
The Outsiders -or- The Giver
* Reading assigned Chapters
